About Hopkinton-Contoocook Taxpayers Association 2006-2007
The Hopkinton-Contoocook Taxpayers Association is a group of Hopkinton and Contoocook citizens who have come
together to provide information and guidance on issues that are important to
Hopkinton voters and residents.
We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM at the
Hopkinton Town Library, 61 Houston Drive, Contoocook, NH. Phone: 603-746-3663
Vision
- Informed, educated and active taxpayers in Hopkinton, N.H.
Mission
- The Hopkinton Taxpayers Association is a group of Hopkinton citizens who have come
together to provide information and guidance on issues that are important to Hopkinton voters.
Goals
- Educate voters on issues about the voting process which may be keeping them from
participating in the meeting process.
- Participation by as many taxpayers as possible.
- Require Board of Selectmen, Budget Committee and School Board to provide more
information, sooner, to allow taxpayers to be more informed voters.
- Require Budget Committee to perform to its capacity as an oversight board.
- Motivate citizens who are concerned with current tax trend to run for elected offices.
Activities
- Have HCTA members attend town, school, budget and special meetings/hearings.
- Investigate and possibly put in a warrant article to change the town and school district to a SB2
voting format.
- Pass out information flyer at polls in November 2006.
- Invite town and school committee members to give reports at upcoming HCTA meetings.
- Create website to communicate information to taxpayers on a regular basis.
- Create email distribution list for taxpayer discussions online.
- Send out email reminders about meetings.
- Send e-alerts for all special meetings.
- Identify specific issues voters need to be educated on prior to town and school district hearings,
and meetings, and direct them to resources which will inform.
